Preventive & Hygiene

The appointment we would rather you kept than any other.

Most of what keeps a mouth healthy is quiet and repetitive. A cleaning on a regular schedule, and an examination that finds a problem while it is still small, prevent far more trouble than anything we do once a tooth has started to fail.

A preventive visit starts with an examination and, where they are useful, x-rays. From there it is cleaning and scaling to remove what a toothbrush cannot reach, polishing, and fluoride or sealant treatment where the teeth would benefit from it.

If the examination turns something up, you will hear about it in plain language. Anything needing treatment is written down as a plan, with the cost on it, before any work starts.

Thirty years of looking after the same Kingston families has made the pattern plain enough: patients who come on a schedule spend less time in the chair than patients who come when something hurts.
